50 % trading outside exchanges...
So the Helsinki event was overbooked – how did the event turn out?
Olof: Yes the event was really crowded, which was nice, next year we need an even bigger place! The event was very interesting with business, technical and regulatory issues covered up as well as what to think of when trading multi-venue.
What was the most interesting aspect of the event?
Olof: That was when a buy side customer stated that they made > 50 % of their trading outside the traditional exchanges and that it was a trend that would continue. He said that they would not do business with brokers that are not connected to all relevant venues.
What do you think about the future in Finland, when will they start to trade at Burgundy?
Olof: We are looking for a pickup in volume at end of first quarter when participants are getting their systems ready and they are actually being tested right now.
Now when we are getting closer to Christmas - how do you think that the year will end for Burgundy?
Olof: I think 2009 will end quietly as investors are reluctant to take new positions ahead of the new year, most people I talk to are enthusiastic about 2010 and forecase an increase in trading volume.
